The Museum of the Future, in collaboration with Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), has unveiled the prototype of Joby Aviation’s aerial taxi.
According to a report by Gulf News, the prototype is displayed on the Tomorrow, Today floor of the museum. It highlights Dubai’s vision for smart and sustainable transportation and its commitment to the Dubai Self-Driving Strategy. The aerial taxi project aims to make 25% of all travel self-driving by 2030. Based on advanced electric technology, the initiative seeks to reduce carbon emissions and support global sustainability goals.
A Bold Step Toward the Future
Khalid Al Awadhi, Director of Transportation Systems at RTA’s Public Transport Agency, expressed pride in showcasing the aerial taxi model at the Museum of the Future. He stated that this project redefines mobility in Dubai, reflecting the city’s ambition and forward-thinking approach.
He further noted that with the launch of this groundbreaking initiative, Dubai is set to become the first city in the world to introduce an aerial taxi service, scheduled to commence operations in the first quarter of 2026.
The aerial taxi is distinguished by its vertical take-off and landing capabilities and adherence to the highest safety and security standards, ensuring passenger well-being.

Majed Al Mansoori, Executive Director of the Museum of the Future, stated that the museum has become the home of the aerial taxi prototype, symbolizing Dubai’s leadership in shaping the future of transportation.
This initiative provides visitors with a glimpse into innovations designed to redefine mobility, making travel faster, safer, and more sustainable. He emphasized that RTA’s collaboration with the museum aligns with its mission to inspire groundbreaking ideas and promote a culture of innovation. This is in line with Dubai’s vision for meaningful progress that benefits society under its leadership.
A Sustainable Vehicle
The Joby S4 aerial taxi represents cutting-edge electric aviation technology. It is a fully electric, eco-friendly vehicle that produces zero harmful emissions. Designed with the latest global technologies, the aerial taxi offers exceptional safety, comfort, and speed.
Featuring a vertical take-off and landing design, the zero-emission vehicle is equipped with:
