Dubai, 07 March 2025: For February 2025, the ICC has announced three nominations for the Men’s Player of the Month, featuring players from Australia, India, and New Zealand. The nominated players are Australia’s Steve Smith, India’s Shubman Gill, and New Zealand’s Glenn Phillips.

Steve Smith scored 141 and 131 runs in two Test matches against Sri Lanka, maintaining a strike rate of 136.00. His outstanding performance earned him the Player of the Series award. In the ODI series, he scored 12 and 29 runs. The ICC Champions Trophy was Smith’s last international tournament, where he scored five runs against England, remained unbeaten at 19 against Afghanistan, and played a crucial 73-run knock against India.

India’s Shubman Gill amassed 406 runs in five ODIs this month, boasting an average of 101.50 and a strike rate of 94.19. His three stellar innings in a series against England included 87 in Nagpur, 60 in Cuttack, and 112 in Ahmedabad, earning him the Player of the Series title as India secured a 3-0 victory. In the Champions Trophy, he remained unbeaten with 101 runs against Bangladesh and contributed a valuable 46 runs against Pakistan.

Always a standout on the field, Glenn Phillips scored 236 runs in five ODIs for New Zealand at a striking rate of 124.21. His partnerships and three unbeaten innings helped New Zealand clinch the Tri-series in Pakistan. He scored 106 against Pakistan in Lahore, 28 against South Africa at the same venue, and 20 against Pakistan in the final in Karachi. Phillips carried his form into the Champions Trophy, starting with a 61-run knock against hosts Pakistan in Karachi and remaining unbeaten at 21 against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi.

ICC Women’s Player of the Month

The ICC has also announced nominations for the Women’s Player of the Month. Australia’s Alana King and Annabel Sutherland have been shortlisted, along with Thailand’s Thipatcha Putthawong.
