Dubai – In a Group A match of the Champions Trophy 2025, India defeated Bangladesh by 6 wickets. Both Bangladesh’s Towhid Hridoy and India’s Shubman Gill scored centuries in the game. Chasing a target of 229 runs, India secured victory in the 47th over, losing only 4 wickets.
At the Dubai Cricket Stadium, Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bat first, but Indian bowlers quickly proved the decision wrong. By the 9th over, half of the Bangladesh team was back in the pavilion with just 35 runs on the board. Among the early dismissals, Tanzid Hasan scored 25 runs, Mehidy Hasan Miraz made 5, while Soumya Sarkar, captain Najmul Hossain Shanto, and experienced Mushfiqur Rahim were out without scoring.
However, a 154-run partnership for the sixth wicket between Towhid Hridoy and Jaker Ali helped Bangladesh post a competitive total. Jaker contributed 68 runs before getting out, while Towhid continued to score with the lower order. Despite suffering from muscle cramps, Towhid reached his century in the 49th over before being dismissed as the last wicket in the final over, taking Bangladesh’s total to 228 all out.
For India, Mohammed Shami took 5 wickets, Harshit Rana grabbed 3, and Axar Patel picked up 2 wickets.
