Karachi – Pakistan cricket team’s all-rounder Salman Ali Agha has stated that if they aspire to become the best team in the world, they need to bring consistency to their performance.
While addressing a press conference after the Champions Trophy match against New Zealand in Karachi, the national team’s vice-captain emphasized the importance of converting scores of 30 or 40 runs into big totals.
Salman Ali Agha remarked that on this pitch, a total of 300 runs was achievable, but the team couldn’t get a good start in batting.

He further added that they neither built partnerships nor gained momentum, and their performance in the powerplay was also below expectations. He mentioned that Fakhar’s absence at the start impacted the powerplay, and if he had been present, the team’s score would have been different.
Salman Ali Agha admitted that he could have played a longer innings, which might have changed the outcome of the match.

He stressed that to defeat the world’s top teams, consistent performances are necessary, and to reach 320 runs, a strong powerplay is crucial. “Today, we did not perform well in any department, and we couldn’t meet the expectations,” he stated.

He concluded by saying that they would move on from this match and step onto the field with full focus on the upcoming game against India.
