Dubai: The Indian cricket team has unveiled its new jersey for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Indian cricketers, including captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, Hardik Pandya, and Arshdeep Singh, were seen posing in the colorful new kit. However, more than the jersey itself, the primary focus was on whether the host country, “Pakistan,” was mentioned on it, as some Indian media outlets had claimed that Pakistan’s name would not be included in the Indian team’s kit.
“According to ICC rules, the host country’s name must appear on all participating teams’ jerseys”
Recently, India attempted to create controversy regarding the placement of the ICC-approved Champions Trophy logo on the jersey. According to ICC regulations, the official logo, which includes the name of the host country, must appear on the jerseys of all participating teams. However, Indian media speculated that Pakistan’s name would be excluded from the Indian kit. Later, the Secretary of the Indian Cricket Board confirmed that the Indian team would adhere to ICC regulations, and the host country’s name would indeed appear on the jersey.

Yesterday, the ICC shared pictures of Indian players receiving their caps for the ICC Awards and Team of the Year. In these images, the players were seen wearing the new jersey, which prominently displayed the Champions Trophy logo along with the host country, “Pakistan.” This marks the first time in recent years that Pakistan’s name has appeared on the Indian team’s jersey.
Previously, during the Asia Cup 2023, which Pakistan was set to host, India attempted to stir controversy, resulting in the Asian Cricket Council’s approval to omit the host country’s name from the tournament logo.

ICC Regulations:
According to ICC rules, the host country’s name must appear on all participating teams’ jerseys, regardless of the match location.
The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is set to commence on February 19. The opening match will feature host Pakistan against New Zealand at Karachi’s National Stadium. Meanwhile, India will play all its matches in Dubai, with the much-anticipated Pakistan-India clash scheduled for February 23 in Dubai.
