Bollywood director Radhika Rao, renowned for her film Sanam Teri Kasam, has heaped praises on the film’s leading lady, the celebrated Pakistani actress Mawra Hocane. In a recent interview alongside co-director Vinay Sapru, Rao lauded Hocane not only for her acting prowess but also for her simplicity and professionalism.
Recalling a challenging scene from the film, Rao shared an anecdote about a song sequence where Mawra had to kiss a fish. The demanding scene required multiple retakes, resulting in Hocane feeling nauseous and vomiting throughout the day.
“Watching the song ‘Kheench Meri Photo,’ no one could ever guess that Mawra had endured such a tough day”
Rao highlighted that any other actor might have refused to continue under such circumstances, but Mawra’s determination stood out. “Salute to Mawra Hocane! Despite the discomfort and our film’s modest budget, she never complained and insisted on completing the scene,” said Rao.
What impressed the directors even more was that Hocane never let anyone on set know about her discomfort until the day’s end. Rao expressed astonishment, stating, “Watching the song ‘Kheench Meri Photo,’ no one could ever guess that Mawra had endured such a tough day filled with constant nausea during the shoot.”
Mawra Hocane’s unwavering dedication and humility have undoubtedly left an indelible mark on the hearts of her directors and fans alike.
