Lahore: Former Indian cricketer and Champions Trophy ambassador Shikhar Dhawan said that in the final of the 2017 Champions Trophy, we were under pressure. A video message from Shikhar Dhawan, the ambassador of the 2025 Champions Trophy, was played at the opening ceremony. Dhawan stated that early wickets fell in 2017, which put us under pressure. We played well in the tournament, but the early fall of wickets in the final was challenging.

It is worth noting that the opening ceremony of the Champions Trophy 2025 took place at Lahore’s Shahi Qila (Royal Fort), where Pakistan’s captain Sarfaraz Ahmed, and other players from the 2017 Champions Trophy-winning team were also present. ICC CEO Geoff Allardice, senior officials from the Pakistan Cricket Board, government and political figures, as well as former cricketers, were also present at the event. Champions Trophy brand ambassadors, New Zealand’s Tim Southee and former South African batsman Dominique, also participated in the ceremony.
