Lahore (Web Desk) – Pakistan’s all-rounder Salman Ali Agha has said that winning the Champions Trophy is more significant than defeating India. “If we lose to India but end up winning the Champions Trophy, that would be a much bigger achievement. However, we’ll still aim to win the match and perform well,” he said during a conversation with Salman Butt on the PCB podcast.
Salman Ali Agha emphasized that if Pakistan beats India but fails to win the Champions Trophy, the victory would lose its significance. “The atmosphere of a Pakistan-India match is always unique; it’s considered the biggest clash, but the ultimate goal is to win the Champions Trophy,” he added.
I’m determined to perform well and embrace the responsibility of being the vice-captain.”Salman Ali Agha
The national team’s vice-captain expressed his excitement about the tournament, saying, “We are eager for the Champions Trophy. The Pakistan team has the potential to win it.”
Talking about his journey with the national side, he said, “I’ve been part of the team for the past three to four years and have been thoroughly enjoying my new role. It’s a challenging position, but I’m determined to perform well and embrace the responsibility of being the vice-captain.”
Salman also revealed his pre-match preparation routine, stating, “I complete all my preparations a day before the match. Saud Shakeel has a unique process; he finishes dinner early, goes to bed by 9 PM, and wakes up at 6 AM for breakfast. When we head to breakfast, he’s already on his way to the team bus.”
He concluded by highlighting the importance of domestic cricket in building consistency. “Consistent performances in domestic cricket make the transition to the international stage easier. Our fans are incredibly passionate, and I often dream of lifting the Champions Trophy in my hometown, Lahore. If that dream comes true, nothing could be more special.”
