Dubai – New Zealand’s fast bowler Lockie Ferguson has been ruled out of the ICC Champions Trophy. Ferguson experienced discomfort in his leg during a warm-up match. According to New Zealand Cricket, the medical panel has determined that Ferguson will not be fit for the tournament. With the approval of the ICC Technical Committee, Kyle Jamieson has been named as his replacement in the New Zealand squad.
It is worth mentioning that a few days earlier, New Zealand’s fast bowler Ben Sears was also ruled out of the ICC Champions Trophy due to a hamstring injury sustained during a training session in Karachi.

Additionally, Pakistan’s Saim Ayub and India’s Jasprit Bumrah have also been ruled out of the event due to injuries, while Australia’s fast bowler Mitchell Starc has withdrawn for personal reasons. Afghanistan’s spinner A.M. Ghazanfar will be unavailable due to fitness issues, and South Africa will miss the services of fast bowler Anrich Nortje.
The ICC Champions Trophy is scheduled to take place in Pakistan from February 19 to March 9.
