Karachi: Former captain of the Pakistan cricket team, Shahid Afridi, believes that player Sajid Khan should have been included in the squad for the 2025 Champions Trophy.
Shahid Afridi stated that off-spinner Sajid Khan deserved a place in the national squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. During a show, both Shahid Afridi and Mohammad Yousuf expressed disappointment over the absence of spinner Sajid Khan, who played a crucial role in Pakistan’s victories during the recent home Test series.
Afridi emphasized that Sajid Khan’s confidence is high, and he is also an excellent fielder with a strong character, capable of hitting sixes in batting. “I thought Sajid Khan would be part of Pakistan’s squad for the 2025 Champions Trophy,” he added.
He further stated that Abrar Ahmed is the only specialist spinner in the squad for the Champions Trophy 2025, and having another spinner alongside him would have been in the team’s best interest.
Commenting on the Indian team, Shahid Afridi said that India is entering the Champions Trophy 2025 with the right combination. He described the Indian squad as a well-balanced and experienced team, from openers to fast bowlers. “I know Bumrah is not there, but they have bowlers like Shami, who can deliver exceptional performances with the new ball,” Afridi remarked.
