Karachi: Pakistan’s star batter Babar Azam has reached another significant milestone by completing 6,000 runs in One Day International (ODI) cricket. Babar achieved this feat during the final match of the tri-nation series against New Zealand at the National Bank Cricket Arena in Karachi, securing the milestone with his 10th run in the innings.
Babar Azam holds the distinction of being the fastest Asian to reach this landmark
With this achievement, Babar Azam has now become the joint fastest player to reach 6,000 ODI runs, equalling the record set by South Africa’s Hashim Amla, both having achieved the milestone in just 123 innings. Babar also holds the distinction of being the fastest Asian to reach this landmark, surpassing India’s Virat Kohli, who took 136 innings to score 6,000 ODI runs.
Additionally, Babar Azam is now the 11th Pakistani batter to achieve this milestone. Before him, legendary cricketers such as Inzamam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Yousuf, Saeed Anwar, Shahid Afridi, Shoaib Malik, Javed Miandad, Younis Khan, Saleem Malik, Mohammad Hafeez, and Ijaz Ahmed have all crossed the 6,000-run mark in ODIs.
