Dubai: Afghanistan cricket team’s all-rounder Mohammad Nabi has expressed his desire to play alongside his son in the national team. According to foreign media reports, the 40-year-old Mohammad Nabi is unlikely to retire from the ODI format after the Champions Trophy.
In an interview, Mohammad Nabi said, “These might not be my last ODI matches. I might play fewer ODIs and provide more opportunities to young players.”

He further mentioned, “I have spoken to senior players. I might play only in crucial matches, or maybe not. It all depends on my fitness.”

Nabi emphasized the importance of self-driven goals for his son: “I want my son to set his own goals. If you want to become a top cricketer, you need to work hard. Scoring 50 or 60 runs isn’t enough; you need to go beyond 100.”
He added, “I keep advising my son to build his confidence. It’s my dream for both of us to play together in the same team, and I hope we can fulfill that dream.”

The veteran cricketer praised his son’s dedication: “My son is hardworking and performing well. I continuously encourage him to work even harder.”
It is worth mentioning that Mohammad Nabi’s son, Hasan Isa Khail, is 18 years old and was part of the Afghan squad in the 2024 Under-19 World Cup.
