Karachi: Pakistan cricket team captain Mohammad Rizwan has said that people should have expectations from the team, as they have talented players and any shortcomings will soon be addressed.
While speaking at a press conference in Karachi, he expressed his happiness over Pakistan hosting the Champions Trophy. “It feels great when the team wins a match through collective efforts,” he said.
He urged the entire nation to enjoy the Champions Trophy, highlighting that Pakistan is hosting an ICC event after 29 years—a period during which the country has also achieved significant successes.

Regarding the team’s fitness, Rizwan shared that Haris Rauf is 80% fit, has resumed bowling, and is actively working out in the gym. “He’s getting back to full fitness. All 15 players in the squad are leaders in their own right—I only show up for the toss and press conferences,” Rizwan remarked.
The captain also emphasized the responsibility of senior players. “There has been no decision that Babar Azam won’t open. Our performance has lacked consistency, but learning is an ongoing process for every player,” he added.
He concluded by acknowledging the challenge ahead. “We need to play better than New Zealand. Every player is hopeful and determined to bring the title home. We are committed to delivering our best performance.”
